Patience

Patience is not something you are born with.  It is also not something you can cultivate if you fill up all of your time, every day.  When you are waiting -- wait.  Try not to play a game on your cell or check social media sites or do whatever it is that you do to never experience the 'suffering' of waiting.  The less you allow yourself to be in a position of   supposed 'pain', the less you will be equipped to mitigate that response.
Try to just wait.
Try to just drive.
Try to just talk on the phone.
Try to just read.
Is it really necessary to have 15 things going on at once?
Or ... could it be that most people feel that if they do not do many things at once that they are somehow 'wasting' time?
Time still passes.
Do not lie to yourselves:  You are putting the pain of emptiness on the table when you inundate yourselves with external chatter.
Try to be still.
Try to do this and you will grow your capacity for patience -- with others and yourself.  It is the stuff that compassion is made of.
You are either growing your appetite for stimuli, or your restraint.
Which are you paying more attention to?
